Contre, seniors shine in final home game in 6-0 win

CAMBRIDGE, MA -- Kelsey Fitzgerald and Kate Ryder each scored goals, with fellow senior Chelsea Contre (Pomfret, CT/WoodstocK) tallying her first two goals of the season in the Lynx 6-0 win over Daniel Webster (1-13, 0-9 NECC) in Lesley's (14-2-2, 9-0 NECC) Senior Night home finale in New England Collegiate Conference women's soccer play.

Both of Contre's goals came on in the first half feeds from team assists leader Veronica Halen (San Diego, CA/Cathedral), the first coming in a header off a corner kick at 30:19 and the next on a cross into the box at 34:10. One minute later, Halen assisted on Fitzgerald's (Upton, MA/Nipmuc) fourth score of the season, sending the Lynx into halftime with a 3-0 lead.

The Eagles gave Lesley an own goal 26 seconds into the second half, and Ryder assisted to junior Casey Decareau (Haverhill, MA/Georgetown) at 50:34 to up the lead to 5-0. Ryder made it a 6-0 final with her sixth of the season at 53:14, and junior Victoria Ellis (Laguna Beach, CA/Laguna Beach) played all 90 minutes for her first shutout of the season.

For the Eagles, Jennifer Fredericks (Beacon Falls, CT/Woodland) stopped nine shots in net.

Lesley's senior class was honored following the match, as the seniors wrapped up their careers with a 33-0-1 career record in NECC play.

As the host team of the NECC Tournament at 9-0, the Lynx now await their opponent for the NECC Tournament.
