Women's soccer enters ECAC Tourney as #7 seed

Brandeis University Selected as Top Seed in 2009 ECAC Division III New England 

Women’s Soccer Championship 

 

CAPE COD, Mass. -- After finishing the regular-season with a 9-6-3 record, Brandeis 

was selected as the number one seed in the 2009 ECAC DIVISION III New England 

Women’s Soccer Championship presented by FieldTurf. The tournament is an eight-team 

field with quarterfinal, semifinal and championship rounds.  

 

In the first round contests on Wednesday, November 11, Brandeis (9-6-3) will host 

Castleton (11-6-2) at 6:00 p.m., while the second seed Keene State (14-6-2) will face No. 

7 Lesley University (15-4-1) at 6:00 p.m. at Keene State.  Third seed University of New 

England (UNE) (14-3) plays University of Massachusetts-Boston (14-5-1) at 5:00 p.m., at 

UNE.  Lastly, Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts (MCLA) (14-5) will take on 

Emmanuel College (14-6-1) at 1:30 p.m. in the No. 4/No. 5 match-up at MCLA.  

 

The first-round winners will advance to the semifinals on Saturday, November 14 hosted 

by the highest remaining seed.  The winner of Brandeis/Castleton will face the winner of 

MCLA/Emmanuel at 1:00 p.m. in one semifinal, and the winner of Keene/Lesley will 

play the winner of UNE/UMass Boston at 1:00 p.m. in the other semifinal.  The semifinal 

winners will meet Sunday, November 15 at 1:00 p.m. for the championship. Both 

semifinal and final games will be at the same location.

First Round – Wednesday, November 11: 

No. 8 Castleton (11-6-2) at No. 1 Brandeis (9-6-3), 6:00 p.m. 

No. 7 Lesley University (15-4-1) at No. 2 Keene State (14-6-2), 6:00 p.m. 

No. 6 UMass Boston (14-5-1) at No. 3 UNE (14-3), 5:00 p.m. 

No. 5 Emmanuel College (14-6-1) at No. 4 MCLA (14-5), 1:30 p.m.  

 

Semifinals – Saturday, November 14 at (Highest remaining seed) 

No. 1/No. 8 winner vs. No. 4/No. 5 winner, 1:00 p.m. 

No. 2/No. 7 winner vs. No. 3/No. 6 winner, 1:00 p.m. 

  

Championship – Sunday, November 15 at (Highest remaining seed) 

Two Semifinal Winners, 1:00 p.m.
