Lesley women's soccer names three captains for 2010

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Head Women's Soccer Coach Paul Vasconcelos has announced the three team captains for the 2010 season. Senior midfielder Alyson Durben (STOW, Mass./Nashoba Regional) and senior defender Dory LeCount (WALTHAM, Mass./Waltham) will join junior defender Savannah Dunay (EFFORT, Pa./Pleasant Valley) as the leaders of the Lynx.

Vasconcelos said about the selection, "These three young women are great student-athletes who lead by example.  We are very happy for them and their families, as it is an honor to be a captain here at Lesley."

Durben's presence on and off the field for the past three years has been a tremendous reason why the team won a conference championship this past year.  "Allie, who is the President of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) is the type of captain that always places her teammates first," said Vasconcelos.

Dunay's leadership came to the forefront this year and she is eager to take on the responsibility as one of the captains.  "Savannah's strong desire to compete is contagious and her selection for this role was an easy one to make," said Vasconcelos.

LeCount's selection also is no surprise, a scholar-athlete who always brings her best.  "Dory is respected by the younger players and upperclassmen alike," said Vasconcelos.  "To come to Lesley as a walk-on and become captain your senior year is quite a success story.  We are all very proud of Dory."

The players, captains, and coaching staff now look forward to a productive relationship in the Fall 2010 season being led by Durben, Dunay, and LeCount who will undoubtedly lead by example.
