Women's soccer records fifth NECC shutout in 2008

NEW LONDON, Conn. - The Lesley University women's soccer team improved to 5-0 in New England Collegiate Conference play after a 7-0 rout of Mitchell College.  Six different Lynx players scored against the Mariners as the team once again proved why they are at the top of conference standings.

The first half was full of scoring as Lesley netted six goals in the first thirty minutes of the match.

Emma Fogg (Wellesley, Mass.) got the scoring started at 4:20 after Jodi Fralick (Woburn, Mass.) fired a shot that deflected off the post behind the keeper.  Fogg was able to one-time the deflection to the back of the net for the first goal of the match.

Cathryn Folkestad (Ipswich, Mass.) got Lesley a 2-0 lead on a free kick that sailed to the top left corner of the net. 

At 17:31, Jodi Fralick would score her first goal of the game as she weaved her way through Mitchell defenders and shot from the left side of the field.  Fralick would score against in the 24th minute on a breakaway that hit off the left post and into the goal.

Lesley would get three more goals from Jenna Fralick (Woburn, Mass.), Lani Cabral-Pini (Wilmington, Mass.) and Alyson Durben (Stow, Mass.).  Haley Puckhaber (Lake Placid, N.Y.) tallied an assist on Cabral-Pini's goal.

Hailee Lowe (Hamilton, Mass.) and Miranda Matson (Gigs Harbor, Wash.) combined for six saves in the shutout. 

Lesley will next travel to UMass-Dartmouth for a non-conference match on October 14 at 3:30 pm.
