NEWTON, Mass. - The women's soccer team traveled to Mount Ida College for a non-conference match and walked away 3-0 victors as they were led by junior forward Jodi Fralick (Woburn, Mass.) who scored two goals in the triumph. The victory brings the Lynx record to 10-1-1 (4-0-0 NECC) while the Mustangs dropped to 3-6-1 (1-4-0 GNAC) on the season.
The Lynx established their offense within the first two minutes of the game as Fralick powered a shot to the left side of the net from sister Jenna Fralick (Woburn, Mass.) just 1:26 into the match.
The score remained 1-0 for much of the game despite efforts by the Mustangs to tie the score up. Samantha Spiezo (Burriville, R.I.) one-timed a shot just over the net and Elise McLear (Swansea, Mass.) also came close to scoring in the first half as the senior took a shot just wide right.
The Lynx would extend their lead to 2-0 at 70:55 when Alyson Durben (Stow, Mass.) crossed the ball left to right near the back post where Cathryn Folkestad (Ipswich, Mass.) headed the ball past Mustangs keeper Meghan Begins (Jericho, Vt.). For Folkestad, it was her third goal of the season.
Jodi Fralick added another insurance goal in the 80th minute of the match with another assist to Durben.
Mount Ida goalie Begins, despite her best efforts to contain the potent Lynx offense, would make 13 saves in the match. Lynx keeper Hailee Lowe (Hamilton, Mass.) denied three shots on goal out of nine total attempts from Mount Ida.
Lesley will next compete against Mitchell College for an away contest on October 8 starting at 4:00 pm. Mount Ida will travel to Johnson & Wales University for 3:30 pm match on the same day.
