ATTLEBORO, Mass. - Freshman back Savannah Dunay (Effort, Pa.) has been a major part of the success that the Lesley University women's soccer team is having these days and for her efforts, she was recognized by the NECC as being Rookie of the Week.

Dunay, who primarily spends her game time shutting down opposing team's offenses, found herself a key part of the Lynx offense against NECC foe Becker College this past weekend.  Dunay chipped in with a goal and an assist during the 6-0 shutout against the Hawks.

The goal came unassisted in the 31st minute to give Lesley a 3-0 lead in the first half.  Later in the second half, Dunay would assist teammate Bridget Rundquist (Chicago, Ill.) on her first goal of her Lesley career.

Earlier in the week against GNAC member Gordon College, Dunay contributed mightily to a strong defensive effort that gave up just one goal to the Fighting Scots.  It was the first goal Lesley had given up all season.

Despite giving up their season long shutout, the Lynx ended up tying the match 1-1 with the Scots to remain undefeated and currently stand at 6-0-1 (1-0-0 NECC) thanks in part to Dunay's stellar play in the backfield.

As Lesley moves forward in conference play, the team will look to Dunay for leadership and dominance if the Lynx wish to make a deep run in the NECC Championships.
