Lynx blank Terriers 3-0

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Lesley University defeated Thomas College 3-0 in their second North Atlantic Conference game of the season and improved on their already impressive season.

The Lynx bettered their record to 7-0-1 (1-0-1 NAC) with their victory over the Terriers Sunday afternoon.  Freshman striker Lauren Mastellone (Howell, N.J.) delivered a strong kick to the back of the net at 1:19 to give the Lynx the early advantage.  Lesley's second goal did not come until the 83rd minute when freshman midfielder Chelsea Quackenbush (East Hampton, Conn.) scored the first goal of her career off an assist from Jodi Fralick (Woburn, Mass.).  Two minutes later, Cathryn Folkestad's (Ipswich, Mass.) pass to Lani Cabral-Pini (Wilmington, Mass.) resulted in a header to the back of the net.

The Lynx defense, however, kept the Terriers offensive subdued.  Goalie Hailee Lowe (Hamilton, Mass.) recorded her fourth shutout of the year and defensive backs Folkestad, Luisa Florez (Ridgefield Park, N.J.), and Sarah Etzel (Manorville, N.Y.) denied any offensive threats from the Terriers.

Head Coach Paul Vasconcelos commented, "We've had some great games up until now but to win our first game within the conference means a lot.  We are going to keep practicing hard and coming out on game days motivated to repeat what happened today."

The next game for the Lynx is Wednesday September 26 at 7:30 p.m. against Becker College.  For more information on the Lesley University women's soccer team, please visit their website.
