Women's Soccer earns NSCAA Academic Award for sixth straight year

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) honored the Lesley University women's soccer program by giving them the Team Academic Award in the 2007 season.  It is the sixth consecutive season in which the women's soccer team has had the privilege of earning this award dating back to the 2002 season.

Lesley was one of nine Division III schools from the New England area to qualify.  The award caps off a memorable season in which the Lynx performed equally as well on the field as they did in the classroom.  The women's soccer team finished 14-4-1 (6-4-1 North Atlantic Conference) which was a dramatic improvement over their 2006 season in which they finished 2-16-2 (0-11-1 NAC).  The historic turn around season gave the Lynx the NCAA record for Most Improved Season.

The team will have most of their players returning for the 2008 season as the Lynx will only have to suffer the setback from one senior graduating in the spring.  With virtually the same team expected to play next season, look for the Lynx to produce quality performances both on and off the field for a long time.
