Women's soccer hangs tough with Bay Path

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - NAC women's soccer perennial powerhouse Bay Path College got a rude awaking call from Lesley as Bay Path barely escaped Cambridge with a 3-2 victory.  The Lady Lynx have been an easy win for Bay Path in the past but the Lesley soccer program is changing for the better and Bay Path go their first taste of that last night.

The first half concluded with Bay Path leading Lesley 1-0 after Amanda Janik scored the games first goal in the 20th minute.  In the 66th minute Marianne Owens gave Bay Path a 2-0 lead.

Lesley dug down deep and before Bay Path could put the match out of reach Jodi Fralick (Woburn, Mass.) scored her 18th goal of the season in the 77th minute.  Fralick lofted a nice floater over Bay Path goalie Meaghan Smith's head.

Just two minutes later, in the 79th minute Janik got her second goal of the game giving Bay Path a 3-1 lead.

Lesley did not go away and continued to play hard.  Michelle Gagne (Portsmouth, R.I.) hooked up with Lani Cabral-Pini (Wilmington, Mass.) in the 89th minute to narrow the gap to one goal.  However, that was all the rally the Lady Lynx had in them as they fell to Bay Path 3-2.

Lesley looks to get back on the winning track as they host Rivier College on Saturday, October 14th at 2:00 pm.  For more information on the Lady Lynx soccer team please go to their website.
