Lesley crew hosts Roger Williams

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The Lesley University rowing team had a successful day on their home course versus Roger Williams University on Saturday, April 26.  Roger Williams drove up from Bristol, R.I. with their Women's Varsity 4 and Men's Novice 4.

To start the day off, Lesley put out two fours made up of mostly novice rowers to scrimmage one another.  The four that consisted of Jessica Wasieleski (Larchmont, N.Y.), Jackie Gurgui (Lake Katrine, N.Y.), Madison Pope (Hyrum, Utah), Kate Buckley (South Glastonbury, Conn.), and coxswain Siobhan Pierce (Cambridge, Mass.) finished first with a time of 8:54.23 ahead of the 2nd Lesley 4 of Stephanie Young (Cambridge, Mass.), Maggie Surrena (Vestal, N.Y.), Jackie Barnes (Ridgefield, Conn.), Charlotte Goff (Osterville, Mass.), and coxswain Becca Koval (Sherman, Conn.).

The Women's Varsity Lightweight 4 (Buckley, Surrena, Pierce, Koval, and coxswain Young) had their most exciting race and finished first with a time of 8:38.3 ahead of Roger Williams Open 4.

To finish off the day, the Women's Novice 4 of Wasieleski, Gurgui, Pope, Goff, and coxswain Pierce scrimmaged the Roger Williams Novice boys.  They lost to the boys by only 22 seconds and finished with a time of 9:08.49.
