Women's Crew: Week in review

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The Lesley University crew team had a competitive week as they raced in the Knecht Cup Regatta down in Cherry Hill, N.J. and locally against Roger Williams University and Simmons College.

Knecht Cup Regatta

The Lynx traveled to Cherry Hill, N.J. to race against teams from across the country at the Knect Cup Regatta on April 12-13.  The women's rowing team competed in the Women's Varsity 4 DIII event, the Women's Lightweight 4 event, and the Women's Novice 4 event.

Although none of the teams made it to the finals, the Lynx were happy with their performance.  Competing with all different teams and taking part in a huge regatta was a great experience for all.

The Women's Varsity 4 finished fifth with a time of 9:04.05 ahead of Sarah Lawrence.  The Lightweight 4 competed against two of the best lightweight teams in the country and finished fifth behind Radcliffe with a time of 9:18.0.  The Novice 4 faced some difficult DI competition and finished last in their head with a team of 9:16.0.  However, the Lesley Novice Women raced in the fastest of the six heats and had a time that beat four schools from different heats.

Lesley vs. Lowell and Roger Williams

The Lesley Rowing Team competed in Lowell, MA on April 19.  They had a very successful day and enjoyed the nice change of weather.  The Women's Lightweight 4 competed in an Open event against UMass Lowell and Roger Williams.  They finished in second place with a time of 7:56 ahead of Roger Williams.  The novice women raced in the Women's Novice 4 against UMass Lowell and finished second with a time of 8:44.25.  The Lynx are looking forward to racing Roger Williams on their home course on April 26.

Lesley vs. Simmons

Lesley had a difficult day of racing on Sunday, April 20 on the Charles vs. Simmons College.  Equipment problems and breakage added to the tough competition, and the Lynx ended up with three second place finishes.
