THE LEAD –  The Lesley Lynx hosted Vermont State University Lyndon this weekend for two NAC matchups. Lesley celebrated Senior Day on Saturday, honoring the two Lynx captains Alexandra Kerley and Jordan Blair.

HOW IT HAPPENED – GAME 1

  • The Hornets jumped out to an early lead, posting 13 points in the first five minutes of the matchup.
  • Two back-to-back three pointers from freshman Savannah Gravitt brought Lesley within three points of VTSU. Three minutes later the first quarter ended, with the Hornets leading 27-22.
  • The first four minutes of the second quarter went by scoreless, with Vermont making the first basket of the period courtesy of Kiara Mack.
  • The Lynx once again finished the quarter just out of reach of their first lead of the game, heading in for halftime trailing 41-32.
  • The game opened up in favor of the Hornets in the third quarter, continuing on to win the matchup with a 30-point advantage.

INSIDE THE NUMERS  

  • Kerley and Blair led the Lynx with 17 points apiece. Kerley snagged 10 rebounds, tacking another double-double onto her season record.

HOW IT HAPPENED – GAME 2

  • The Hornets once again established an early lead over the Lynx, leading by nine with just a minute remaining in the first quarter. The Lynx battled back and headed to the bench trailing by five.
  • The game opened up in favor of the Hornets over the course of the second quarter, allowing them to gain a 21-point lead going into halftime.
  • The next two quarters followed suite, and the VTSU Hornets snagged their second win of the weekend.  

INSIDE THE NUMERS  

  • Blair led the Lynx offense with 12 points, and four assists in the match.
  • Kerley and Gravitt followed with 11 points apiece.
  • The Lynx outshot the Hornets from the free throw line 69.9% to 41.2% in the setback.

The Lynx are back on the court Wednesday, February 7th with a non-conference matchup against Fisher College.
