LATE RALLY FALLS SHORT AS LESLEY DROP NECC TILT TO BAY PATH

(CAMBRIDGE, Mass.) – The Bay Path College Wildcats held off a late second half rally by the Lesley University Lynx to earn a 57-46 victory in New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) women's basketball action Saturday afternoon in Cambridge. With the victory the Wildcats improve to 3-4 (1-1 NECC) while the Lynx fall to 1-6 (0-2 NECC).

Freshmen Jackie Ewing (Hong Kong) finished with a career high 22 points, including 5 of 7 from behind the arc. Ari Dimou (Manchester, N.H.) was the only other Lynx in double-figures finishing with 13 points and seven rebounds.

Kayla Skiffington (East Longmeadow, Mass.) led the Wildcats with a team high 21 points, while Justine Hook (Berwick, Pa.) and Katherine Chabot (Brookfield, Mass.) each reached double-figures finishing with 13 points and 12 points respectively.

Ewing came out and quickly hit a jumper sparking Lesley to a 14-2 run to open the game. The Wildcats would not be turned away, responding with a 15-0 run over the course of five minutes to take a slim 17-14 lead with 8:28 remaining.

Back-to-back 3-pointers by Ewing put the Lynx back-up by three (20-17) but, Bay Path continued to battle, holding Lesley without a field goal and just two points the remainder of the half, while outscoring the Lynx 14-2 to head into the break up 31-22.

The Wildcats continued to roll in the second half stretching their lead to as many as 17-points (41-24) mid-way through. Lesley refused to lay down despite the deficit. Dimou drained two thee's with buckets by Carrie Fieger (Simsbury, Conn.) and Emily Fleming (Medford, Mass.) sandwiched in between to cut the lead to eight with 9:02 remaining.

The Lynx would come as close as seven with 3:17 remaining but solid shooting from the foul line helped the Wildcats hold on and seal the conference victory.

The Wildcats took advantage of Lesley's miscues scoring 17 points off of the turnover, while holding the advantage on the glass 51-41, including 20 offensive rebounds that led to 15 second chance points.

Lesley returns to action next when they take on Wentworth Institute of Technology on Dec. 13 at 7 p.m. at Wentworth.
