Softball Posts 12-0 Win Over Bay Path in Game 1 Romp

THE LEAD – Lesley University picked up a 12-0 victory over host Bay Path University in Game 1 of non-conference Softball action Saturday afternoon at the BPU South Campus Softball Field. The Wildcats rebounded in Game 2, defeating the Lynx by a 6-0 final for the twinbill split.

HOW IT HAPPENED (GM 1)

  • The Lynx plated two in the first to get off to a quick start on RBI base knocks by Kari Sorensen and MJ Jones.
  • Following a scoreless second, Sorensen scored the third LU run in the third on an attempted double-steal.
  • Jones made it 4-0 with an RBI triple in the fifth before the Lynx exploded for eight runs in the sixth to pull away for the 12-0 win.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS (GM 1)

  • The Lynx collected 15 hits in the win led by a 3-for-4 showing by Jones and Mellanie Barth, both finishing with two RBI each.
  • Isabella Moscoso, Madison Herbert and Sorensen each registered two hits.
  • Emma Hodgkins earned the win in the circle working 5.0 innings, scattering four hits and striking out two. Herbert worked the final inning to close the door to preserve the win.
  • Brooke Evanchak paced the Bay Path offensive effort going 2-for-2 at the plate.
  • Isabella Ferrara suffered the loss.

HOW IT HAPPENED (GM 2)

  • The Wildcats flipped the script in the rematch, holding the Lynx scoreless for the first time all year in a 6-0 final.
  • The hosts got on the board in the second on an RBI single from Emma Scheeren which would prove to be enough for Madison Sunderland who held Lesley to one hit over 7.0 innings in the complete-game shutout win, striking out nine.
  • Bay Path plated three in the fourth to bump the lead to 4-0 and then added single runs in the fifth and sixth to account for the 6-0 final.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS (GM 2)

  • Sydney Cole was the only Lynx to muster a hit vs. Sunderland, collecting a leadoff single in the fifth before being stranded in scoring position.
  • Scheeren and Sunderland closed the game with two hits each.
  • Herbert suffered the loss for Lesey going the distance and allowing 10 hits while striking out five.
