GAME OVERVIEW:

HENNIKER, NH. – The Lesley Lynx Softball team closed out the regular season with a sweep of the New England College Pilgrims to push their winning streak to five in a row. The Lynx won game one 15-1 and took game two 7-4. Lesley advances to 15-15 on the season and 6-6 in the NECC, while the Pilgrims drop to 12-16 overall and 4-6 in the conference.

INSIDE GAME 1:

• The Lynx struck first in the top of the first, with Megan Murphy coming into score on an error by Pilgrims catcher Emily Nelson and Antonia Kieran doubling to drive in Jordan Day to begin a massive day for both of them.
• Kieran drove in Lesley's next run with another double to bring in Day for her nineteenth RBI of the season. In the very next inning, the Lynx were able to load the bases in front of Day who made Pilgrims starter Naomi Medrano pay with a grand slam for her eighth home run of the season. NEC got their first and only run of the game in the bottom of the fourth on an RBI single by Destiny Cardona.
• The Lynx broke the game open in the sixth inning, scoring eight times to build up to a 15-1 lead by the end of it. Day singled to start the inning, followed by a walk by Ilana Zack and another hit from Kieran to load the bases. Jess O'Neill drove in the inning's first run with a sacrifice fly and was followed by a walk to Holly Swinamer. Lindsey Jensen was hit by a pitch to drive in a run and Tara Eldredge and Mahlia Medina followed with RBI singles. Murphy turned in a productive out to score Jensen and Day and Zack closed out the inning with back-to-back RBI doubles.
• Day finished the game 4-for-5 with an incredible six runs batted in and five runs scored. Kieran finished 4-for-5 as well with two doubles and two RBI. Day was fantastic on the mound as well, allowing only one unearned run and striking out eleven batters for her tenth win of the season.

INSIDE GAME 2:

• It was another quick start for the Lynx, with a base hit from Day to drive in Medina getting the scoring started in the top of the first. They added another two runs in the third inning on an RBI single by Murphy, who then came into score on a sac fly by Kieran.
• The Lynx added to the lead in the sixth inning on a double by Medina to drive in Eldredge and Swinamer. Medina then came into score again on another baes hit by Murphy.
• NEC finally got their bats going in the bottom of the sixth, but it would end up being too little too late. With Day hitting her eighth homer in game one, Daelyn Ross's conference lead was in jeaopardy, but she extended her lead over Day with a two-run homer, her tenth of the season. Taylor Maher and Kaitlyn Simpson each had an RBI double in the inning as well, but Day escaped the trouble with a 6-4 lead.
• Lesley added an extra insurance run in the top of the seventh inning on an RBI groundout by O'Neill to drive in Zack for her sixth RBI of the year.
• Day pitched the second game as well, allowing four runs and adding another seven strikeouts for a total of eighteen Ks over the two games. She now sits at 11-5 on the year with a 3.33 ERA and 106 strikeouts. She has the lowest qualified ERA in the conference and is second in strikeouts and wins. She also leads the conference at the plate in batting average and RBI and is second in home runs.
