GAME OVERVIEW:

North Myrtle Beach, SC: The Lesley University softball team secured a second victory in the space of four days over New York school Alfred State on Tuesday, March 13, 18-2.  The Lynx scored 8 runs in the first inning and had another 7 run inning in the 4th which secured the victory in the run-rule fashion in five innings.

 

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:

  • Lesley completely dominated the opening inning of the contest scoring 8 unanswered runs. Freshman Kristen DiCicco lead off the game with a double.  Two batters later freshman Riley Pickett ripped a triple to right field that scored DiCicco and senior Courtney Goggin to get the Lynx on the board early.  Lesley batted around the line up with additional RBI's from Goggin, Stephanie Schofield, and Theresa Pereira.
  • Freshman ace Jordan Day struck out the side in the top of the second, and then followed up with her first collegiate homerun to give the Lynx the 9-0 lead at the end of two.
  • Alfred State scored their only runs in the game in the third inning when Ashleigh Peterson struck a double, scoring Zoe Derr and Morgan Franklin.
  • A 7 run 4th inning was sparked by Ashleigh Acker's bases loaded, base clearing double.  Day and Juliana Cecere each chipped in RBI's to end the Lynx scoring and sealing the 18-2 victory.
