Golden Earns NFCA All-Region Accolades

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Senior outfielder Mekenzi Golden (Laguna Niguel, Calif.) was selected to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-New England Region Second Team for the third time in her collegiate career.

Golden led the Lynx to their seventh New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) title earning All-Tournament MVP honors after posting a staggering .632 batting average during the tournament. In addition the Southern California native was also named to the NCAA Regional All-Tournament Team at Babson Park.

Over the course of the 41 game season, Golden registered a career year posting a single-season best .434 batting average (59-130) with a staggering 1.326 OPS (.503 OBP, .823 SLG%). While surpassing individual single-season highs registering 15 doubles, three triples, nine homeruns and 42 RBIs she tied former Lynx Jodi Fralick '12 for the program's all-time RBI record with 151.

Down the stretch in 2017, Golden recorded a 23-game-hitting streak from April 11th through the conference championship on May 7th. During the stretch she batted .612 (30-49) with five doubles, two triples, five homeruns and 16 RBI with 17 runs scored from the top of the Lynx batting order. The hitting streak was snapped in the first game of the NCAA Tournament against host Babson College.
