Softball Falls to Franklin & Marshall, Ramapo

KISSIMMEE, Fla. – Lesley University found themselves on the losing end of a pair of pitcher's duels in today's Rebel Spring Games action at the Osceola County Softball Complex. The Lynx were delivered a 2-0 setback to Franklin & Marshall College before dropping a 5-0 decision to Ramapo College.

Lesley will wrap up their 2016 spring trip tomorrow with a doubleheader against Utica College at 9:00a and #23 Cortland State at 11:15. Both games will be played at the OCSC Field 5.

Game One: Lesley 0, Franklin & Marshall 2
Box Score

The Lynx received a fantastic outing from sophomore slinger Kaera Wyse (Reading, Mass.) who pitched all six innings, surrendering just four hits and two runs (both unearned) while striking out one.

Diplomats' starter Katie Wenger matched Wyse's effort with a complete game effort herself, yielding four hits, one walk, and four strike outs.

Franklin & Marshall broke a scoreless tie in the third inning. Kelly Van O'Linda led off the inning with a walk before Melissa Bollmeyer reached on an error in the Lesley infield. Erin Russell followed with a double to bring in both runs and give the Diplomats a 2-0 lead.

Lesley would threaten in the top half of the sixth with runners on the corner and two outs, but Wenger forced an infield pop-up to escape the jam unscathed.

Lynx senior Jess Reynolds (Londonderry, N.H.) paced the offense, going 2-for-3 with a pair of singles while sophomore Courtney Goggin (Cheshire, Conn.) and freshman Stephanie Schofield (Redwood City, Calif.) also had hits for Lesley.

Game Two: Ramapo 5, Lesley 0
Box Score

Ramapo wasted little time getting their offense in gear as Danielle Saporito led off the game with a triple to right field and came home one batter later on a sacrifice-fly by Christina Brizek.

Saporito and Brizek would team up again to power a Roadrunner rally in the third. Saporito doubled with one-out and one-on before Brizek would follow with a double of her to plate a pair of runs. Brizek would come around one batter later when Melissa Moreno singled through the right side to extend Ramapo's lead to 4-0.

The Roadrunners would cap the scoring with one more in the top of the fourth on an RBI single by Harper Patsko.

Ramapo starter Katrina Buczkowski limited the Lynx to three hits over seven innings while striking out six.

Lesley junior Alyson Nisbet (Clovis, Calif.) went the distance for the Lynx, yielding seven hits and five runs while strikeout out one.
