LOUISVILLE, Ken. – The honors for Lesley University softball's Mekenzi Golden (Laguna Niguel, Calif.) keep rolling in as she has been named to the 2014 National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-New England First Team. The freshman was named New England Collegiate Conference Rookie of the Year and placed on the NECC All-Conference First Team last week.
Golden is the 12th player in program history to be named to an All-Region team and second player in Lesley program history to be selected for the NFCA All-New England First Team. Former catcher/infielder Jodi Fralick '10 first earned the honor in her senior season.
Golden had quite the rookie campaign as she led the team with a .422 batting average, six home runs, 37 RBI, 49 hits, and a .698 slugging percentage in 35 games played.
The freshman is one of two players from the NECC selected for the All-New England team as Newbury's Sheri Liggiero earned a Third Team At-Large selection.
