Softball Heads to Williams for Regional Round of NCAA's

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Lesley University softball team will head to Williams College and open up play against Tufts University on Friday, May 9th in the opening round of the 2014 NCAA DIII Softball Tournament. The Lynx earned their fourth straight automatic bid after claiming their sixth consecutive New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) title this past Saturday with a 4-2 win over Mitchell College.

Tufts, the reigning National Champions, earned an automatic bid with their third straight New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) title on Sunday, defeating Williams College in back-to-back games, 4-1 and 10-2.  

Joining the Lynx and Jumbos at the Regional is Commonwealth Coast Conference champion Endicott College and host Williams College. The Gulls clinched an automatic bid with a 7-6 win in extra innings over Western New England University while the host Ephs were awarded an at-large bid to the tournament following a loss in the NESCAC Championship to Tufts.

The Jumbos and Lynx met in last year's regional at Babson Park with Tufts prevailing by a score of 12-5.
