CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Lesley University softball team has claimed the top-slot in the New England Collegiate Conference Championship for a sixth straight year, having finished with a league-best 17-1 record in conference play. The Lynx, 18-13 overall, have earned a bye in the first round and will host the double-elimination tournament this Friday on the campus of Regis College.
Lesley will be in search of their sixth straight NECC title and fourth consecutive automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
Becker College (16-18, 13-5 NECC) earned the second seed and will play seventh seed Regis (9-18, 8-10 NECC) in a first round game on Wednesday, April 30.
Mitchell College (16-17, 12-6 NECC) will be the tournament's third seed and will host sixth-seeded Southern Vermont College (11-19, 9-9 NECC) while fifth seed Elms College (12-15, 10-8 NECC) will travel to fourth seed Newbury College (15-17, 11-7 NECC) for a first round matchup.
First round games will be played on Wednesday, April 30 at the higher seed. Winners will advance to the double-elimination tournament hosted by Lesley and played at Regis College on Friday, May 2-4.
The top seven teams qualify for the NECC Championship. Game times and dates are subject to change.
