Golden, Nisbet Take Home NECC Weekly Honors

Lesley University freshman Mekenzi Golden (Laguna Niguel, Calif.) and Alyson Nisbet (Clovis, Calif.) were both honored by the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) with the Rookie of the Week Award and Pitcher of the Week Award, respectively. NECC Assistant Commissioner for Media Relations, Robb Modica, made the announcement today in the conference Weekly Report.

This marks the fourth time this season Golden has been awarded Rookie of the Week honors, while Nisbet is receiving Pitcher of the Week for the first time. The two California natives powered the Lynx to a 4-1 week as the roll into the NECC Championship as the top-seed.

NECC ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Mekenzi Golden, Lesley
(Fr. – Laguna Niguel, Calif.)
Golden was on fire at the plate, collecting nine hits in 17 at-bats for a .529 average in a 4-1 week for the Lynx. The rookie logged two or more hits in four of five games on the week, while scoring six runs and driving in three. 

NECC PITCHER OF THE WEEK
Alyson Nisbet, Lesley
(Fr, INF - Clovis, Calif.)

Nisbet did not allow an earned run in 24.2 innings pitched this week, earning three wins while fanning 22 batters in a 4-1 week for the Lynx. The rookie downed Becker College with a complete-game effort, allowing just five hits and striking out six. In a 2-0 win over Daniel Webster College, Nisbet struck out nine eagles, going the distance in the shutout.
