Lesley University freshman Mekenzi Golden (Laguna Niguel, Calif.) has been named the New England Collegiate Conference Rookie of the Week in the first eligible week of her career. NECC Assistant Commissioner for Media Relations, Robb Modica, made the announcement this morning in the Conference Weekly Report.

Golden has made her presence felt immediately as the Lynx made their annual spring trip to the Dot Richardson Spring Games in Clermont, Fla. last week. The rookie registered a .516 on-base percentage while hitting .464 (13-for-28) in eight games.

NECC SOFTBALL ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Mekenzi Golden, Lesley

Golden has started off her career in impressive fashion, hitting safely in her first eight games while compiling a .464 (13-for-28) average. The rookie has also knocked in a team-high 10 RBI as the Lynx played in the annual Dot Richardson Spring Games last week. Golden led Lesley to a 10-2 win over Manhattanville with a 3-for-3 performance where she registered three RBI and two runs scored. She recorded multi-hit performances in four of Lesley's first eight games.
