Lynx Sweep Eagles in Regular Season Finale

Nashua, N.H. – The Lynx closed out its regular season by taking a pair of New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) matchups, 5-0 and 7-3 Saturday over Daniel Webster College at  Eagle Field.

The Lynx (21-17, 17-1), already having clinched the NECC regular season crown, will earn a first round NECC tournament bye and host the NECC championship round next weekend at a site to be announced.

The Eagles (13-21, 8-10) now await the results of tomorrow's Regis College doubleheader that will determine playoff seeding. The Eagles are tentatively expecting to play in a one-game first round playoff on the road on Tuesday at 4:00 p.m.

In the opener, the Eagles spotted the Lynx two runs in the top of the first and added a single run in the second and didn't look back. Emily Mangiaretti (Amherst, Mass.) posted two hits and knocked in a run, while Molly Sarson (Sanford, Maine), Allison Fountain (Cheshire, Conn.) and Angela Mukai (Amherst, N.H.) knocked in single runs. Maria Nazzaro (North Reading, Mass.) added a pair of hits.

Abigail Goslin (Wrentham, Mass.) and Danielle Melanson (Derry, N.H.) had single hits for the Eagles.

Nicole Mercurio (Wakefield, Mass.), who had two hits, earned the win in the pitcher's circle (10-5) allowing just two hits, and struck out six.

In the nightcap, Mukai and Jodee Doka (Sacramento, Cal.) knocked in two runs each while Nazarro when 3 for 3 scoring two runs. Lesley took control early again, plating two runs in the first and three in the second.

Theresa DiSantis (Hinsdale, Mass.), Sarah Durocher (Keene, N.H.) and Chelsey Crawford (Westfield, Mass.) had two hits each for the Eagles with DiSantis and Durocher knocking in one. Amanda Wilson (Merrimack, N.H.) added a RBI single.

Jordan Thomas (Fitchburg, Mass.) earned the win for the Lynx (7-7), while Dallas Fonck (Enfield, Conn.) took the loss (4-8).
