Bates Comes Back, Tops Lynx

CLERMONT, Fla. – After jumping out to a 5-1 lead after two innings, Lesley's bats went silent and eventually fell to Bates College 6-5 in ten innings.

In the first, the Lynx were able to take advantage of a slew of Bobcat errors as Jessica Guevara (Nantucket, Mass.), Allison Fountain (Cheshire, Conn.), Nicole Mercurio (Wakefield, Mass.), and Jodee Doka (Sacramento, Calif.) all came around to score.

Lesley added one more in the top half of the second when Emily Mangiaratti (Amherst, Mass.) came around after getting on with a walk.

The Lynx were unable to get a run across in extras despite having a runner on third in the eighth, ninth, and tenth.

Bates ended it when Alayna Garbarino singled home Molly Brown in the bottom of the tenth.

Lesley starter Jordan Thomas lasted five innings, allowing five runs on six hits with two strikeouts. Jennifer Dorval took over and went the last five, allowing only Brown's game-winning run in addition to five hits, with four strikeouts. Jodee Doka (2-for-4, triple, two runs, two RBIs) and Sarah Apgar (2-for-4, RBI) led the Lynx offensively.
