Dorval Tosses No-Hitter in Win Over Suffolk

CLERMONT, Fla. – Lesley junior Jennifer Dorval (Franklin, N.H.) tossed a no-hitter against Suffolk University today in the Lynx final game of their annual Central Florida trip. Dorval threw a complete-game five innings while striking out five and walking just two batters in the Lynx 8-0 win. With the victory, Lesley improves to 2-6 on the young season while Suffolk drops to 0-5.

The Lynx scored two in each of the first two innings to take an early 4-0 lead. Senior Molly Sarson (Sanford, Me.) got the scoring started as she drove a double to left-center field to scored classmate Jessica Guevara (Nantucket, Mass.). Sarson then came around after Nicole Mercurio's (Wakefield, Mass.) single was mishandled in left field.

In the second, Guevara hit a bases-loaded single to bring around junior Sarah Apgar (Andover, N.J.) and sophomore Jodee Doka (Sacramento, Calif.).

Dorval got in her groove early as she retired eight in a row over the first and fourth innings, three coming via strikeout.

The Lynx scored four more in the fourth, capped by a double by Mercurio that allowed Sarson to score.

Lesley ended it in the fifth by mercy rule when senior Emily Mangiaratti (Amherst, Mass.) singled to right, allowing junior Maria Nazzaro (North Reading, Mass.) to come around.

Lesley returns to play on Friday, March 22nd when they travel to Wheaton College for a double-header starting at 3:00p.
