Knox one-hitter, Brixey blast ignite sweep of Bay Path

LONGMEADOW, MA -- Cassandra Knox held an opponent to only one hit for the second time this week, and Gabrielle Brixey homered and drove in four on the day as Lesley's offense continued its rampant production in a pair of road wins at Bay Path, crushing the Wildcats 11-0 and 14-0.

Knox struck out 10 for a second straight game, picking up her eighth win of the season. She need only 17 batters to retire five innings worth of Wildcats, and of Bay Path's 17 batters only eight put a ball in play.

Offensively, leadoff hitter Emily Mangiaratti drove in three on a bases-loaded triple, her second three-bagger of the year. Brixey's second home run of the season capped a 3-for-3 game in which she scored twice and drove in three as Lesley took Game 1 easily, 11-0.

In Game 2, Molly Sarson went 2-for-2, infielders Sarah Apgar and Jenna Fralick went 2-for-3, right fielder Maria Nazzaro went 3-for-3 and starting pitcher Jennifer Dorval went 3-for-4, all scoring twice in Lesley's 14-0 win. Brixey also scored two runs, while Dorval drove in three and Sarson knocked home four.

Dorval was equally as brilliant on the mound, picking up her ninth win of her freshman year, throwing four innings of one-hit ball. The NECC Freshman of the Week struck out nine and walked none.

At 17-6 and 8-0 in NECC play, Lesley returns to the field on Friday, playing host to Wheelock.
