MEN'S TENNIS
PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Mitchell College sophomore Kyle Carmona (Norwich, Conn.) finished the 2010 season undefeated in both #1singles and #1 doubles. Carmona was named All-Tournament in both singles and doubles action winning in both flighted championships. Carmona defeated Wheelock's Wilson Chang 6-0, 6-3 in the semifinal action and Becker's Charles Heard 6-4, 6-2 to win the #1 championship. In doubles action of the 2010 Tournament, Carmona paired with Rocco Devona sailed through the semifinals 6-0, 6-2 and finals 6-1, 6-0 taking the #1 doubles title.
SOFTBALL
PLAYER OF THE WEEK – For the second straight week, Bay Path senior shortstop/outfielder Sarah Gates (Crown Point, Ind.) earned player of the week honors batting a sizzling .583 (7-for-12). She hit safely on all four contests including three multiple hit games and eight RBI. Gates notched three doubles, one sac fly and was walked four times. She was perfect in fielding with six put-outs and two assists. Gates slugged .833 and had a .647 on base percentage.
PITCHER OF THE WEEK – Elms College sophomore Courtney Hampton (Westfield, Mass.) went 2-1 on the week with a 4.88 ERA including two tough wins over Mitchell College. Hampton managed to help the Blazers clinch the #2 seed over Mitchell College by sweeping them 3-2 and 8-0. She hurled 24.0 innings giving up only 13 earned runs on 21 hits. She tallied 19 strike-outs and only walked five batters.
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK – Lesley University freshman outfielder Emily Mangiaratti (Amherst, Mass.) batted .486 (17-for-35) with 10 RBI, 13 runs, one double and one triple. She helped the Lynx clinch the top seed for the 2010 NECC Softball Tournament. Mangiaratti finished with a solid .571 slugging percentage and a .581 on-base percentage. She also notched ten stolen bases.
BASEBALL
PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Mitchell College junior infielder Jeff Perillo (Newington, Conn.) led the Mariners to a 3-1 week. Perillo batted .500 (7-for-14), slugged.643 and had a .533 on-base percentage while finishing with a .917 fielding percentage. He notched three runs and one RBI. Perillo had two multiple hit games including going 4-for-5 against Becker.
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK – Daniel Webster freshman outfielder Darrik Marstaller (Spofford, N.H.) batted .353 (6-for-17) hitting safely in all four contests. The Eagles went 3-1 on the week sweeping Elms in a three-game series. Marstaller had a .647 slugging percentage and a .353 on-base percentage. He added six RBI, one triple and one homerun. Marstaller notched eleven put-outs with a 1.000 fielding percentage.
