Maureen Mikos earns NAC Player of the Week

CAMBRIDGE, MA - Maureen Mikos (Fairfield, CT) has been the ace for the Lesley softball team ever since she arrived three years ago.  Mikos has thrown a no-hitter for the Lynx and also led them threw an amazing tournament run last year for which she was honored as a member of the 2006 NAC All-Tournament Team.  She will graduate as the all-time strike-out leader and the all-time win leader at Lesley.  She will also leave Lesley as the owner of a handful of other records.  Over her career the one thing Mikos had never done was to be honored as the NAC Player of the Week, despite some incredible achievements.  That all changed this week as Mikos was named NAC Player of the Week for the first time in her career.

Mikos put together a very impressive one week resume which included a huge upset win against Elms College in which she was credited with the win.  Mikos became the first pitcher to record a regular season conference win in over 2 ½ years, a streak which was 34 games long.  On the week Mikos went 4-1 for the Lynx and posted a 2.05 ERA.  In the five appearances that Mikos made she pitched 26.1 innings.  Over those innings Mikos struck out 19 while limiting her opponents' batting average to .288.

Mikos became the third Lynx this season to be named as the NAC Player of the Week.  Mikos joins Georgia Saltzman (Lynn, MA) and Sarah Wilson (Lowell, MA) who received the award already this year.

Mikos and the Lynx are back in action on Thursday, April 19th when they travel to U-Mass Boston.  For more information on Mikos of the Lesley softball team please go to their website.
