Georgia Saltzman wins NAC Player of the Week

CAMBRIDGE, MA - Georgia Saltzman (Lynn, MA) started her Lesley University softball career with a bang.  Saltzman had an unbelievable first week and for her outstanding performance during spring training down in Ft Myers, FL, Saltzman was named the North Atlantic Conference Player of the Week.

Saltzman ignited the Lynx offense as she batted .500 for the week (11-22) and racked up a team-high nine RBI.  Saltzman showcased clutch hitting with power as she hit two homeruns and five extra-base hits.  Saltzman hit a whopping .955 slugging percentage and an astronomical 1.515 OPS.

Saltzman, a freshman recruit, started the week by fighting for a position as a starter on the team and ended it as the 1st basemen and one of the most prized offensive weapons.  Saltzman complimented her hitting with outstanding athleticism on the defensive side, showcasing her amazing flexibility with some jaw-dropping catches.

"We new we were getting a great athlete when we recruited Georgia but even in our wildest dreams we had no idea that she would be this type of an impact player this quickly," said Assistant Coach Josh Streit.  "She can hit all types of pitching and she gets hits when they matter most.  In addition to her potent offensive abilities Georgia adapted very quickly to 1st base and was a rock for us defensively."

This is the first time that a freshman at Lesley has been named the North Atlantic Conference Player of the Week.  With the young explosive talent on the team this year it probably will not be the last either.

Saltzman and the Lynx stunned the opposition as they started their season 5-3 with key wins over Framingham State College, Salem State College, and New England College.  For more information on Saltzman of the Lesley women's softball team please go to their website.
