Lesley University vs. Thomas College

WATERVILLE, ME – Lesley allowed two runs in the fifth and one in the seventh as Thomas College overcame a two run deficit to defeat Lesley University 3-2 in the opener of the double-header, played at Thomas College.

Christina Anzilotti (Pelham, NY) pitched five strong innings for the Lynx and walked away with a no-decision. Anzilotti gave up two runs on six hits over her five innings of work. Maureen Mikos (Fairfield, CT) got the loss for the Lynx as she pitched one and a third innings giving up one run on two hits while striking out two and walking one.

The Lynx got all of their scoring done in the third inning. Lisa Pina (Somerville, MA) led off the inning with a single. Pina then advanced to third following sacrifices by both Katie Wilson (Kittery, ME) and Lani Cabral-Pini (Wilmington, MA). With two outs and Pina on third Stephanie Amaral (Seakonk, MA) came through with a huge RBI single, scoring Pina. Gianna Spaziante (Hawthorne, NY) followed Amaral’s single with one of her own. Then Sarah Wilson (Lowell, MA) walked to load the bases. Amaral then scored on a wild pitch before Mikos ended the inning with a strikeout.

Thomas came back in the bottom of the fifth grabbing two runs off of Anzilotti. The two runs in the fifth for Thomas came with two outs. Thomas won the game in the bottom of the seventh with one out and the bases loaded the scored on a fielder’s choice.

This was Lesley’s first conference game of the year as they drop to 0-1 in conference play.

In game two, Thomas College swept Lesley University as they won the finale of the double-header 4-0.

Thomas College held Lesley’s bats in check all game as the Lynx only managed three hits on the afternoon. Sarah Wilson (Lowell, MA), Katie Bennett (Bartlett, NH) and Courtnie Leakeas (Lowell, MA) all got singles for the Lynx, but the furthest anyone would reach against Thomas would be second base.

Maureen Mikos (Fairfield, CT) got the loss for the Lynx. Mikos pitched six innings giving up four runs off of six hits while striking out six and walking no one.
