FT. MYERS, FL – North Park University scored two runs in
the sixth and six runs in the seventh as they went on to beat the
Lynx 12-5.
Lesley jumped out to an early lead against North Park grabbing a
3-0 lead in the second after a 2 RBI single by Courtnie Leakeas
(Lowell, MA). North Park countered quickly in the top of the third
with two runs of its own narrowing the gap to 3-2. Lesley
immediately put pressure back on North Park in the bottom of the
third with two more runs, on RBI’s by Christina DiGiorgio
(Lowell, MA) and Katie Wilson (Kittery, ME).
Lesley would surrender its 5-2 lead over the following four
innings, being unable to score another run while giving up ten
run’s over those four innings. North Park eventually tied and
took the lead 6-5 in the top of the sixth and then blew the game
wide open with a six run seventh.
Lisa Pina (Somerville, MA), DiGiorgio, Amy Breen (Holbrook, MA),
and Wilson all led the team with two hits. Leakeas led the team
with 2 RBI’s.
Amy Breen received the loss for the Lynx. Breen went six and a
third innings for the Lynx giving up seven runs on nine hits,
striking out four and walking two. Christina Anzilotti (Pelham, NY)
finished the game for the Lynx pitching two-thirds of an inning,
giving up three earned runs on four hits while striking out
one.
The Lynx finish their time in Ft. Myers, FL playing against Richard
