Strong Start for Men's Cross Country at RWU Invite

BRISTOL, R.I. – The Lesley University men's cross country team opened their 2016 campaign this afternoon at the annual Roger Williams Invitational on the Colt State Park 5k Course.

Lesley senior Tyler Burns (Newton, Pa.) led the Lynx in his first collegiate 5k, covering the course in 19:58. Sophomore Mike Fleming (Southwick, Mass.) turned in a strong outing in his collegiate debut, coming in at 21:48.

Graduate Student Kolin Perry (Reno, Nev.) crossed the line at 22:11 while freshman Matthew Mori (Natick, Mass.) followed in his debut at 23:25. Junior David Foust (Newton, Mass.) also competed in his first collegiate race with a time of 29:13.

The Lynx will return to action on Saturday, September 17th when they travel to the UMass Dartmouth Invitational.

On the women's side, senior Hannah Levensailor (Ayer, Mass.) paced the Lynx pack in her first collegiate race with a time of 22:46. Junior Alex Dimauro (Woburn, Mass.) shaved 1:06 off her time at the 2015 RWU Invite, coming in at 23:07. Senior Sydney Altschuler (Durham, Conn.) also crushed her time from the 2015 event by 2:31, crossing the line at 23:37.

Senior Amy Bouchard (Goffstown, N.H.0 made her Lesley debut with a time of 23:58 while senior Abbey Coppinger (Moultonborough, N.H.) followed at 24:19. Sophomore Nicole Footer (Lewiston, Maine)  crossed the line at 24:29 while junior Jordan Penney (Eliot, Maine) completed her cross country debut at 24:33.

Freshman Kayla Ranere (Danbury, Conn.) finished her first race at 25:15, just ahead of sophomore Karina Buruca (Cambridge, Mass.) who crossed at 25:29. Junior Beth Carronna (Longmeadow, Mass.), also competing in her first collegiate race, turned in a time of 25:29.
