Top Five Finish for Barber Leads Men's Cross Country

CHICOPEE, Mass. – The Lesley University men's cross country team faced a tough, hilly course this afternoon at the Elms College Invitational, but that did not slow down Ian Barber (Westhampton, Mass.) as the senior posted a top-five finish with a time of 27:58.

Barber, who posted a fourth place finish at the event last year, shaved 32-seconds off his time as he cruised through the 8k course today.

Lynx junior Robbie Fisher (Boston, Mass.) followed Barber with a time of 34:28, coming in just ahead of sophomore Leo Saporta (Newtown, Mass.) who crossed the line at 34:51.

Rookie Gaelon Kolczynski (Yarmouth, Maine) finished at 36:36 while senior Kolin Perry (Reno, Nev.) followed closely at 36:40 for the Lynx.

On the women's side, freshman Kelly Lynch (Topsham, Maine) paced the Lynx as she cruised to a time of 26:08. Fellow rookies Nicole Footer (Lewiston, Maine) and Kim Arlen (Manchester, N.H.) followed Lynch as 27:30 and 27:37, respectively, before sophomore Karina Buruca (Cambridge, Mass.) crossed at 28:21.

Junior Abbey Coppinger (Moultonborough, N.H.) shaved 1:59 off her pace from the 2014 Elms Invite as she crossed at 28:44 while classmate Sydney Altschuler (Durham, Conn.) beat her 2014 finish by 12-seconds when she finished at 30:23.

Sophomore Alex Dimauro (Woburn, Mass.) came in at 32:31 while Sarah Campisi (Saco, Maine) topped her time from the event last year by 1:20 as she finished things up for the Lynx with a time of 33:54.

The Lynx will return to action on Saturday, October 10th when they travel to Westfield, Mass. for the annual James Early Invitational. 

The men's and women's cross country teams were joined by a furry friend following the Elms Invite.
