Green Sets New LU Mark at UMD Invite

DARTMOUTH, Mass. – The Lesley University men's cross country team posted an 8th place finish out of 28 teams at the 36th Annual UMass-Dartmouth Corsair Invitational this afternoon. Sophomore Nick Green (Stoughton, Mass.) was the first Lesley runner to cross the finish as he posted a time of 25:59.67, good enough for 16th place overall in a field of 210 runners. The time also crushed the previous Lesley record of 26:08 at the UMD Invite, set in 2009 by current Lesley assistant coach, Fran Cusick.

Sophomore Ian Barber (Westhampton, Mass.) was next in line for the Lynx, coming in at 27:38.61 while senior Andy Scott (Brattleboro, Vt.) was twelve spots back, crossing at 28:02.03. Junior Dillon Simmons (Middleboro, Mass.) posted a time of 28:32.81 while freshman Kilton Webb (Wayne, Me.) came in at 28:43.76. Senior Chris Conforti (Brattleboro, Vt.) rounded out the Lynx runners, coming in at 29:44.88.

Collectively, Lesley had a time of 2:18:56.88 over the 8k course and finished with 296 points. Franklin Pierce was the top team finisher, as they earned just 52 points.

Lesley will travel to Elms College next Saturday for the annual Blazer Invitational.
