Men's Volleyball Drops Pair at DWC Tri-Match

NASHUA, N.H. – The Lesley University men's volleyball team dropped a pair of matches in their first tri-match of the year this afternoon at Daniel Webster College. The Lynx fell 3-0 to the Eagles in a New England Collegiate Conference match before slipping 3-0 to Mount Ida College in a non-conference tilt.

The Lynx (0-6, 0-4 NECC) will look to get in the win column when they return to Cambridge on Tuesday and play host to Newbury College in an NECC matchup.

Match One: Lesley 0, DWC 3  

In the day's opener, DWC hit .386 from the floor to down the Lynx with set scores fo 25-7, 25-19, and 25-8. The Eagles also topped Mount Ida 3-0 in the final match of the day to improve to 11-9 overall and 5-1 in the NECC.

Saunoa Afoa, Richmond Iturralde Zavalza,and Ryan Howdeshell all reached 10 kills apiece with Howdeshell banging down six aces to pace the Eagles. Nate Makaiwi dished out 24 assists and pulled in nine digs. Tommy Reyes chipped in with four aces and three kills.

Lesley junior Tyler Burns (Newton, Pa.) led the Lynx with eight kills, four aces and 10 digs while Karuna Chiemruom (Cranston, R.I.) matched a career-high as he handed out 13 assists. Junior Jacob DiDomenico (North Providence, R.I.) added a pair of kills to go with three digs, two solo blocks, and a block assist. Senior Chris Barletta (Valrico, Fla.) finished with three kills.

Match Two: Lesley 0, Mount Ida 3

The second match of the day did not fare much better for the Lynx as the Mustangs earned set scores of 25-13, 25-18, 25-9 to notch their fourth straight win.

Peter Griffenkranz led Mount Ida with a match-high 10 kills while Nate Gyampo added nine and pulled in eight digs. Nathan Sprengle posted 17 assists.

Tyler Burns, Barletta, and DiDomenico all picked up four kills for Lesley while Chiemruom added 13 assists for the third straight match and recorded a career-high six digs to anchor the defense.

Burns added nine digs for the Lynx and DiDomenico slammed three aces from the service line.
