Men's Volleyball Drops Season Opener at Emerson

BOSTON, Mass – The Lesley University men's volleyball team dropped their season opener 3-0 to host Emerson College in non-conference play at the Brown Plofker Gymnasium. The Lions used set scores of 25-11, 25-10, and 25-14 to earn the sweep and snap a two-match losing streak. Emerson improves to 3-4 on the season while Lesley starts their 2016 campaign at 0-1.

Leading the way for Lesley was junior Tyler Burns (Newton, Pa.) who recorded team-highs of nine kills and seven digs to go with a solo block. Lynx senior C.Jay Sutton (Billerica, Mass.) set up the offense with 13 assists while freshman Karuna Chiemruom (Cranston, R.I.) finished his collegiate debut with three kills and three digs. Junior Jacob DiDomenico (North Providence, R.I.) added five digs for the guests.

Emerson's Jackson Wiley paced the Lions attack with eight kills and three digs, followed closely by Win Kittivatcharapong and Stig Regan who registered seven and six kills, respectively. Regan added two block assists and a solo block to his line on the night while Jared Gross and Jacob Di'Tore helped anchor the defense with eight digs apiece. Brendan McGonigle dished out 28 assists to go along with two kills and three service aces to round out the Lions offense.

The Lions hit a season-high .377 on the night while limiting the Lynx to a -.059 percentage. Emersonalso held advantages in digs (30-17), assists (31-13), and service aces (10-0).

Lesley will be off until next Saturday, February 13th when they kick off a three-game homestand and open New England Collegiate Conference play against Regis College at 1:00p. The Lions return to action on February 9th when they host MIT for a 7:00p match.
