Men's Volleyball Downed at Lasell in Non-Conference Bout

NEWTON, Mass. -- The Lasell College men's volleyball swept the visiting Lynx of Lesley University 3-0 on Thursday evening. The Lasers grabbed the victory with scores of 25-11, 25-12, and 25-15, improving to 5-2 on the season with the Lynx falling to 0-4 this year.

Senior Tim Anderson (Danville, N.H.) and freshman Tristan Davis (Rochester, N.Y.) led the Lasers with a match-high seven kills on the evening and Davis recorded a match-high four service aces. Junior Matt Dugan (New Lenox, Ill.) recorded a season-high three serving aces and led the team with his four digs, while sophomore Andrew Glenn (Westport, Conn.) handed out a match-high 18 assists this evening. The Lasers used a .411 hitting percentage to defeat the Lynx in the match.

Freshman Tyler Burns (Newtown, Pa.) led the Lynx with a team-high seven kills and junior Melvin Morales (Chelsea, Ma.) recorded four kills of his own. Freshman setter Mitchel Ulacco (Winchester, Mass.) handed out 12 assists in the loss for the visitors.

The Lasers jumped out to an early 9-0 lead behind Jeff Vautrin's (Chicopee, Mass.) nine consecutive successful serves and a pair of kills from Dan Raffol (Natick, Mass.). The Lynx would score six of the next eight points to pull within five at 11-6, but the Lasers pulled away to take the first set 25-11.

In the second set, the Lynx would trade points with the Lasers leaving the score tied at 8-8, but they unable to keep things close as the Lasers went on to score the final 17 of 21 points to close out the set, 25-12.

In the evenings final set, Lasell jumped out in front 7-3, but the Lynx used a run of their own to pull within two points of the Lasers at 15-13. It wasn't enough as the hosts would score the final 10 of 12 points to finish the match, 25-15.

Lesley University returns to action as their NECC schedule kicks off with a road match with Newbury College on Tuesday February 11th at 8:00 p.m., while the Lasers have a break until the open their GNAC schedule against Emmanuel College at home on Friday February 14th, at 7:00 p.m.
