Lynx exit NECC Championships in the first round

BROOKLINE, Mass. - The Lesley University men's volleyball team took on a talented Newbury College Nighthawks team in the first round of the New England Collegiate Conference Championships and were defeated 3-0 (6-30, 7-30, 12-30).  The Lynx came in as the #4 seed in the tournament while the Nighthawks were the #1 seed.

Lesley finished the 2009 season with a 3-19 record.

In the match, NECC Honorable Mention Mike Jack (Buenos Aires, Argentina) and Malcolm Andrews (Medford, Mass.) tied for a team-high three kills.  Clayton Janer (Guildford, Conn.) led the team in digs with seven and Stephen Siragusa (Valley Stream, N.Y.) dished out nine set assists in the final match of the season.

Newbury had two players with double-digit kills as James Krizka (Buffalo Grove, Ill.) and Max Daley (Cranston, R.I.) had 13 and 10 kills, respectively.  Max Sadowski (Feeding Hills, Mass.) had 34 set assists in the straight set win.

Newbury would go on to face #2 Elms College in the championship, but would lose to the Blazers 3-1.  The Elms victory claimed the inaugural NECC men's volleyball championship.
