Men's volleyball splits tri-match

BROOKLINE, Mass. - In a tri-match with Newbury College and Southern Vermont College, the Lesley University men's volleyball team won one and lost one to bring their 2009 record to 3-17.  The Lynx lost their first match to Newbury 3-0 (30-13, 30-11, 30-19) and then beat Southern Vermont 3-0 (30-12, 30-26, 30-19).

Match One vs. Newbury

Highlighting the first match of the day against Newbury College was outside hitter Mike Jack (Buenos Aires, Argentina) who spiked home five kills with just one error. 

Zachary Almeida-Beers (Rehoboth, Mass.) chipped in with three kills and Stephen Siragusa (Valley Stream, N.Y.) dished out 10 assists in the losing effort.

Match Two vs. Southern Vermont

The Lynx got their third win of the season over the Mountaineers behind a four kill performance from Nick Assad (Andover, Mass.).  Assad also had six digs and a block in the match.

Almeida-Beers led the Lynx with seven digs and two blocks in the win.

Lesley shook up their lineup against Southern Vermont as newcomers Jaime Bolano (Weston, Fla.) and Matthew Grassa (Everett, Mass.) contributed in an impressive first set 30-12 win.  Bolano recorded a service ace and Grassa had a solo block in the set.

Lesley will host their final home match of the season on Tuesday, March 24 at 8:00 pm against Daniel Webster College.
