Lasell defeats Lesley 3-0 in first match of the season

NEWTON, Mass. - In their first match of the 2008 season, the men's volleyball team was defeated by Lasell College 3-0 (13-30, 24-30, 15-30).  With the loss, the Lynx drop to 0-1 (0-1 North East Collegiate Volleyball Association).

Facing the 8th ranked team in the NECVA New England division, the Lynx had some quality performances from its players.  Freshman middle hitter Mike Labagh (Elizabethtown, Pa.) led all Lesley competitors with seven kills on 12 attacks, putting him at an impressive 58.3% kill percentage.  Labagh was active defensively as well, totaling three block assists on the game.

Mike Jack (Buenos Aires, ARGENTINA) and Scott Wheeler (East Hampton, Conn.) did their best to keep Lesley in the game as both tallied double-digit digs with 11 and 12, respectively.  Wheeler had a solo block and assist as well and Jack assisted on two blocks.

Under new Head Coach Elizabeth Morris, the men's volleyball team will look to rebound against Lancaster Bible College and Mount Ida College in a home tri-match Saturday January 19 starting at 10 a.m.
