Lynx Race at Jonathan Tymann Invitational in Tough Spring Conditions

THE BASICS

THE LEAD – The Lesley University Track & Field team competed Saturday afternoon at the Jonathan Tymann Invitational hosted by Gordon College. The men's squad saw two Top-10 performances while the women's side saw a total of three Top-10 finishes despite difficult weather-related conditions.

MEN'S HIGHLIGHTS

  • Coming off of last week's strong performance, Dawson Romito race well in the men's 1500m event with a time of 4:25.32, finishing in fifth place overall in the race.
  • Christian Castro was one one-hundredth of a second off his personal-best in the 100m race, finishing eighth overall with a blazing time of 12.09 second. 
  • Frank Leone joined him in the record books with a record-setting toss in the Shot Put, recording a heave on 9.67m (31 feet 8.75 inches) to set the new Lesley record.
  • Leone also posted a pair of 14th place finishes in the Shot Put and the Discus.

WOMEN'S HIGHLIGHTS

  • Hailey Von Ahn picked up a sixth place finish in the 200m event with a time of 29.35 while teammates Sacha Porter and Lauren Rudolph picked up Top-20 performances in the same race finishing 15th and 18th, respectively.
  • Hannah Nangle finished ninth overall in the 1500m race with a time of 5:25.12
  • Michelle Hutter rounded out the Top-10 performances with a 10th place mark in the 400m race at 1:19.58.
  • Mackenzie Mann and Holly Swinamer raced in the 1500m event as well crossing the finish line in 22nd and 23rd place.
  • Von Ahn, Porter, and Raffaella Vogt all competed in the 100m dash as well during a very rainy portion of the meet.
  • Tori Young finished 13th in the Discus and 23rd in the Shot Put.

UP NEXT

  • The Lynx are headed to Weston, Mass. on Monday, April 8 for take two of the Regis Spring Classic hosted by Regis College. The original meet was postponed due to snow on April 5.
