Men's and Women's Track Sees Times Drop at BU Valentine's Invitational

BOSTON, Mass. – The Lesley University men's and women's track and field teams travelled into Boston's Back Bay to compete in the Boston University David Hemery Valentine Invitational, Saturday afternoon.

Sophomore Mike Fleming (Southwick, Mass.) finished first in his section in the 200-meter dash, with a time of 24.20 - .53 better than the second place finisher from Maine-Farmington. The second year runner also competed in the 60-meter for the second straight meet and knocked off .10 of his time from the Tufts University Invitational, finishing with a time of 7.67.

First year Ethan Marians (Larchmont, N.Y.) also competed in both events and like Fleming, he, too, beat his time in the 60-meter from two weeks ago. The New York native clipped .21 off his time from the Jumbo Invitational, finishing with a time of 8.71 at Boston University while in the 200-meter he finished with a time of 28.45.

Fellow first year runner Matthew Arsenault (York, Maine) rounded out the Lynx runners competing in the 400-meter dash. Arsenault finished third in his section with a time of 57.39 behind only runners from Trinity and St. Joseph's (Me.).

The winter season is over for the Lynx track and field programs but they will return to the track on April 1st in the Tufts Snowflake Invitational.

On the women's side, first year runner Kayla Ranere (Danbury, Conn.) competed in two events for the Lynx and was one of five Lesley runners to participate in the Terrier one-mile run. In the one mile, she finished with a personal best time of 7:04.57 – eight seconds better than her first mile-run time at the Smith College Invitational on January 21st – while in the 400-meter she had a time of 1:19.36.

Teammates, senior Sydney Altschuler (Durham, Conn.), sophomore Anne Cooper (Havard, Mass.), junior Alex DiMauro (Woburn, Mass.) and sophomore Nicole Footer (Lewiston, Maine) also participated in the one-mile. Altschuler led the five Lynx runners with a time of 6:13.25 while Footer was right behind her with a time of 6:20.28. DiMauro and Cooper were not far off with times of 6:33.72 and 6:52.99, respectively.

Junior Anni Abbruzzese (Croton on Hudson, N.Y.) rounded out female side competing in the 60-meter, finishing with a time of 9.68.
