Men's and Women's Track Compete at Tufts Stampede

MEDFORD, Mass. – The Lesley University Men's and Women's Track teams traveled to nearby Tufts University to compete in the annual Tufts Stampede Saturday afternoon.

Lesley junior Alexandra Dimauro (Woburn, Mass.) led the way for the Lynx as she shaved eight-seconds off her time in the 3000-meter from last week's Smith Invitational, crossing the line this afternoon at 12:42.90.

Sophomore Nicole Footer (Lewiston, Maine) powered Lesley in the 1-mile run as she came across at 6:28.71. Freshman Kayla Ranere (Danbury, Conn.) followed Footer at 6:54.03, 18-seconds better than her performance last week.

Senior Sydney Altschuler (Durham, Conn.) led the Lynx in the 1000-meter run, posting a time of 3:52.05 while sophomore Beth Caronna (Longmeadow, Mass.) followed and crossed at 4:15.33.

The 4x800 relay team of Altschuler, Ranere, Footer, and Dimauro wrapped up the distance events for Lesley with a time of 12:24.70.

Juniors Jordan Penney (Eliot, Maine) and Anni Abbruzzese (Croton on Hudson, N.Y.) represented the Lynx in the sprints. The duo finished the 60-meter in 9.30 and 9.65, respectively, before turning in times of 31.04 and 34.10 in the 200-meter.

On the men's side it was sophomore Mike Fleming (Southwick, Mass.) who led the way, competing in three events. The second year sprinter posted a time of 7.77 in the 60-meter before completing the 200-meter in 26.63. Fleming also matched his long jump from last week, leaping 5.22m.

Freshman Ethan Merians (Larchmont, N.Y.) joined Fleming in the 60-meter with a time of 8.92.

The Lynx will enjoy a week off before returning to the track on Saturday, February 11th and travel to Boston University for the BU Invite.
