Men's and Women's Track Open Indoor Season at Umass Boston Open

BOSTON, Mass. – The Lesley University men's and women's track teams opened up their 2016-17 indoor season this afternoon at the UMass Boston Indoor Open at the historic Reggie Lewis Center.

Lesley senior Amy Bouchard (Goffstown, N.H.) paced the Lynx on the women's side with solid performances in the one mile and 5000-meter. Bouchard cruised to a time of 6:09.83 in the mile run before leading a trio of Lynx with a time of 20:40.58 in the 5000m. Junior Alex Dimauro (Woburn, Mass.) and sophomore Nicole Footer (Lewiston, Maine) followed Bouchard in the 5000m, crossing at 21:31.93 and 21:35.10, respectively.

Senior Sydney Altschuler (Durham, Conn.) enjoyed a strong performance in the 3000-meter, coming in at 12:47.08.

Junior Jordan Penney (Eliot, Maine) represented Lesley in the sprints, running to a time of 30.88 in the 200-meter before finishing her afternoon with a time of 1:10.72 in the 400-meter.

On the men's side, sophomore Mike Fleming (Southwick, Mass.) found success and led the team in both the 200-meter and 400-meter. The second year sprinter crossed at 25.42 in the 200m before crossing at 57.45 in the 400m.

Freshman Ethan Merians (Larchmont, N.H.) followed Fleming in the 200m with a time of 31.06 while classmate Matt Arsenault (York, Maine) finished the 400m in 58.68.

Fellow first year Matthew Mori (Natick, Mass.) rounded out Lesley's afternoon by turning in a time of 5:29.27 in the one mile.

The Lynx will be back in action after the New Year and take the track at the Smith College Invite on Saturday, January 21st
