Fleming, Kolczynski With Strong Performances at Smith

NORTHAMPTON, Mass. – The Lesley University men's track team enjoyed a strong performance at the Pioneer Invite hosted by Smith College Saturday afternoon.

Freshman Mike Fleming (Southwick, Mass.) posted a top-30 finish for the second straight week in the 100m with a time of 12.54 before registering a top-25 place in the 200m as he crossed at 25.00 – beating his time from the Snowflake Invite by .43. Fleming also finished 12th overall in the long jump, registering a best jump of 5.59m.

Classmate Gaelon Kolczynski (Yarmouth, Maine) also finished in the top-30 in the 200m with a time of 25.43 before placing 11th overall in the 400-meter, crossing the tape at 55.63.

On the women's side, sophomore Kelly Lynch (Topsham, Maine) was victorious in both her 1500-meter and 800-meter heats to lead the Lynx at the Pioneer Invitational hosted by Smith College.

Lynch turned in a time of 5:13.82 for an 8th place overall finish in the 1500m before crossing at 2:35.39 for a 13th place finish in the 800m.

Freshmen Kimberly Arlen (Manchester, N.H.) and Nicole Footer (Lewiston, Maine) each topped their times from last week's Snowflake Invitational in both the 1500m and 800m. Arlen cruised to a time of 5:47.02 in the 1500m before finishing the 800m in 2:52.44. Footer finished virtually in-stride with Arlen in the 1500m with a time of 5:47.07 and followed at 2:57.21 in the 800m.

Junior Sydney Altschuler (Durham, Conn.) completed the 1500m in 6:25.48 before shaving five-seconds of her time at Tufts in the 800m, crossing at 3:12.96.

Running in her first race of the outdoor season, senior Coni Bernales (Santiago, Chile) placed 8th overall in the 200-meter with a time of 27.55. Bernales also registered a 12th place finish in the 100-meter, coming in at 14.09.

Sophomore Jordan Penney (Eliot, Maine) topped her 200m time from last week's race by .58 seconds and crossed at 30.12 for a top-30 finish of her own.

Lesley will return to the track next Saturday at the UNH Invitational.
