Men's Track Opens Outdoor Campaign at Tufts

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Lesley University men's track team opened up their 2016 outdoor campaign this afternoon on a cold, wet afternoon today at the annual Tufts University Snowflake Invitational.

The freshmen duo of Mike Fleming (Southwick, Mass.) and Gaelon Kolczynski (Yarmouth, Maine) paced the Lynx as they each posted a pair of top-25 finishes.

Fleming opened the day with a time of 12.23 in the 100-meter dash before coming in at 25.43 in the 200-meter. Kolcynski was nipping at Flemings heels in the 200, as he crossed just 0.11 after at 25.54.

Kolczynski posted his second top-25 finish in the 400-meter, placing 21 st overall, with a time of 56.49.

Senior Kolin Perry (Reno, Nev.) enjoyed a strong outdoor opener in the 800-meter and 1500-meter, posting respective times of 2:30.63 and 4:57.58.

On the women's side, sophomore Jordan Penney (Eliot, Maine) registered a time of 15.39 in the 100-meter and followed that up with a 30.70 finish in the 200-meter.

Sophomore Kelly Lynch (Topsham, Maine) led the distance runners with Lesley's top times in both the 800-meter and 1500-meter, crossing at 2:42.60 and 5:34.10, respectively.

Also in the 800-meter for the Lynx, freshman Nicole Footer (Lewiston, Maine) finished in 2:56.13 while classmate Kimberly Arlen (Manchester, N.H.) followed closely at 2:58.76. Junior Sydney Altschuler (Durham, Conn.) crossed at 3:17.84 while freshman Maeve Hedstrom (Cambridge, Mass.) came in at 3:22.09.

Footer and Arlen crossed one after the other in the 1500m as well with respective times of 5:47.80 and 5:48.40. Altschuler and Hedstrom rounded out Lesley's efforts in the race with times of 6:23.70 and 6:49.90.

The Lynx will be back in action next Saturday when they travel to the Smith College Invitational.
