Strong Showing for Track at Pride Invite

WESTON, Mass. – The Lesley University track team capped their season with an exclamation point as they competed the annual Pride Invitational hosted by Regis College. Lynx junior Constanza Bernales (Santiago, Chile) finished in first place and broke the 400-meter program record as she crossed at 1:00.17. The sprinter also turned in an impressive time in the 200-meter as she placed second with a time of 27.09.

Senior Carissa Iverson (St. Johnsbury, Vt.) and freshman Caitlin Sugrue (Rockland, Mass.) competed in the 100-meter dash with finished at 14.69 and 15.46, respectively. Iverson was also the lone Lynx in the long jump, as she leaped 4.12m.

Senior Ariana Thomas (Shresbury, Vt.) boasted a 16th place overall finish in the 1500-meter with a season-best time of 5:51.84 while sophomore Sydney Altschuler (Durham, Conn.) followed with a time of 6:35.06.

Freshman Alex Dimauro (Woburn, Mass.) led the Lynx in the 800-meter as she crossed at 2:56.39 while sophomore Abbey Coppinger (Moultonborough, N.H.) followed closely behind with a time of 2:56.59. Freshman Sarah Campisi (Saco, Maine) wrapped things up for the Lynx in the race, posting a time of 3:03.68.

Tyree Williams (Boston, Mass.) paced things for the Lynx on the men's side as he was the first Lesley finished in both the 100-meter and 200-meter. The senior placed seventh overall in the 100m, posting a time of 11.91, while coming in at 24.05 in the 200m.

Seniors Spencer Crispino (Montgomery, N.J.) and Nick Tuccinardi (Melrose, Mass.) also joined Williams in the 100-meter with times of 13.52 and 14.12, respectively.

Crispino also came .03 short of tying his personal best in the 200-meter with a time of 27.78. Tuccinardi wrapped up the day with a personal best mark in the 400-meter as he cruised to time of 58.85. This marks the third week in a row that he has beat his personal record.
