Record Setting Day for Bernales at Wildcat Invite

DURHAM, N.H. – Lesley University traveled north to Durham, N.H. this afternoon as they raced against top NCAA Division I, Division II, and Division III competition in the Wildcat Invitational hosted by the University of New Hampshire.

Constanza Bernales (Santiago, Chile) paced the way for the Lynx as she set a pair of program records in the 100-meter and 200-meter. The junior sprinter had quite the day as she raced to an eighth place finish with a time of 13.17 in the 100-meter while winning her section in the 200-meter and taking seventh overall as she crossed at 26.81. Both 100-meter and 200-meter records were previously held by Kat Vicino '14.

Lynx freshman Caitlin Sugrue (Rockland, Mass.) joined Bernales in the 100-meter, finishing with a time of 15.37.

Senior Ariana Thomas (Shrewsbury, Vt.) shaved three seconds off her time last week as she raced to a time of 6:03.21 in the 600-meter. Sophomore Abbey Coppinger (Moultonborough, N.H.) and junior Rachel Asam (Coeyman's Hollow, N.Y.) rounded out the day on the women's side, posting respective times of 3:04.15 and 3:10.49 in the 800-meter.

On the men's side, senior Tyree Williams (Boston, Mass.) led the Lynx as he posted quality times in both the 100-meter and 200-meter. Williams came just .09 of tying his program record in the 100-meter, winning his section and placing 14th overall with a time of 11.73. Williams followed that up with a 14th place finish in the 200-meter, as he crossed at 23.95.

Fellow senior Spencer Crispino (Montgomery, N.J.) joined Williams in the 100- and 200-meter, posting times of 13.05 and 27.87, respectively.

Nick Tuccinardi (Melrose, Mass.) was the third Lynx in the 100-meter as he crossed the finish at 13.10. The senior also ran in the 400-meter, shaving more than a second off his time from last week, turning in a time of 1:01.04.

The Lynx will compete next Saturday as they head to Cambridge-neighbor MIT for the Sean Collier Invitational.
