Track Opens Up Spring Season at UMass Dartmouth

DARTMOUTH, Mass. – Lesley University opened up their outdoor season this afternoon at the annual Corsair Invitational hosted by UMass-Dartmouth. Junior Ian Barber (Westhampton, Mass.) led the way for the Lynx as he scored four points with a sixth place finish in the 10,000 meter with a time 34:56.27.

Lesley fared well in the 100-meter dash as senior Tyree Williams (Boston, Mass.) posted a top-30 finish with a time of 11.94 while classmates Nick Tuccinardi (Melrose, Mass.) and Spencer Crispino (Montgomery, N.J.) posted times of 13.41 and 13.55, respectively.

Williams finished just out of the top-30 in the 200 meter as he crossed at 24.39 while Crispino came in shortly after with a time of 29.20.

Tuccinardi wrapped up the day for the men in the 400 meter as he crossed at 1:02.21.

On the women's side, junior Coni Bernales led the way as she cruised to a tenth place finish in the 100 meter dash with a time of 13.43. Bernales also posted a strong race in the 200 meter as she placed thirteenth with a time of 27.78.

Senior Chelsea Reuther (Boxborough, Mass.) and freshman Caitlin Sugrue (Rockland, Mass.) joined Bernales in the 100 meter, posting times of 14.94 and 15.09, respectively.

Sophomore Sydney Altschuler (Durham, Conn.) crossed at 3:12.21 in the 800 meter while senior Arianna Thomas (Shrewsbury, Vt.) ran to a time of 6:06.22 in the 1500 meter.

Fellow senior Carissa Iverson (St. Johnsbury, Vt.) finished the day as she set the program record in the long jump as she leaped 3.96m.

The Lynx are back in action next Saturday when they head to Durham, N.H. for the University of New Hampshire Wildcat Invitational.
